During the Inca Empire , Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti , who conquered the region, [3] : 73 and built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru , it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui , leader of the Inca resistance. Nowadays, located in what is called the Sacred Valley of the Incas, it is an important tourist attraction on account of its Inca ruins and its location en route to one of the most common starting points for the four-day, three-night hike known as the Inca Trail. Around the midth century, the Inca emperor Pachacuti conquered and razed Ollantaytambo; the town and the nearby region were incorporated into his personal estate. During the Spanish conquest of Peru , Ollantaytambo served as a temporary capital for Manco Inca , leader of the native resistance against the conquistadors.

Ancient Technology in Peru & Bolivia

Rather than simply being the exclusively the works of cultures such as the Inca, there are many megalithic wonders which defy both the conventional time lines and known levels of technology attributed to the ancient people of South America.

The most glaring example is most likely Puma Punku, near the shore of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, which hints at not only being several thousand years old, but also seems to have been achieved using what we would call high level machine technology. There are also many sites in Peru, and especially near the city of Cusco that also show the hall marks of having been made by cultures using technology supposedly not known by cultures such as the Inca. A massive collection of photographic and and detailed analysis is contained in this book, as well as on site observations by leading engineers, such as Christopher Dunn, author of the Giza Power Plant, and acclaimed author and engineer Arlan Andrews.

An amazing tour of a history untold by conventional wisdom from a man who has been there and seen these incredible structures first hand. Brien makes a clear and concise account of these megalithic structure in a kind of written tour format taking you through the areas covered.

A great read indeed, this book is one of many Brien has written that I suggest are required reading for you before heading off on your adventures with him on some of his tours that he conducts, because you will gain a lot more with all this background information before you go on your "Daniel Jackson" Startgate - SG1 adventure! The physical book is quite large, so the images are well presented, and this Kindle edition has great images too. I believe you will love this book if you want to know more about lost ancient technologies that seem to have been ignored by modern day dogma.

Graham Hancock seems a bright lad with some intriguing ideas about our past and Brien Foerster is part of that cadre of disparagingly called pseudo scientists challenging the official paradigm. Its clear that these megalithic structures are made using techniques we are struggling to understand. The way the book is constructed is a whistle stop tour of these places in Peru and Bolivia.

There are lots of annoying typos and syntactical errors and poor editing eg pictures shown twice on the same page! Foester should have delved much deeper into the possibilities of how these structures were made. He also wandered off into speculation on how the catastrophe occurred. Fairly clear evidence it was a disintegrating comet that caused the younger Dryas Extinction.

But who were these civilisations before the extinction? The next few years will certainly reveal more data from the past. Its a pity the Mr Foereter couldn't have had a collaborator to steer his efforts along clearer pathways.

And a better photographer too. A fascinating tour of the ancient sites of Peru and Bolivia where the pictures speak for themselves, but they are accompanied by a commentary that tries to provoke thought as to how they were made rather than providing answers, because basically we do not know.

The standard archeaological reasons are put forward but the author is successful in questioning whether these are valid. Most importantly though, through the photographs, you can come to your own conclusion that maybe we should not be satisfied with the arguments put forward by the archaeological 'experts'; who again seem to follow predetermined positions rather than following the evidence or rigourously questioning it.

Very interesting and detailed book regarding the ancient civilizations in south America and the remains of buildings and structures which are not inkeeping with any acceptable explanation as to how they were constructed. Brien offers plausible theories in line with those suggested by Graham Hancock.

One person found this helpful. Once again Brien take us on an adventure posing important question and providing many answers, yet the startling facts remains Report abuse. Lost Ancient Technology. Of Peru And Bolivia

In his new book, packed with photos and diagrams, Childress examines the amazing stonecutting at Puma Punku, a site neighboring the ancient ruins of Tiwanaku near Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. The evidence seems to support the idea that they were actually constructed by a far older culture. Childress examines the megalithic construction and underground chambers of Chavin in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru, possibly the oldest megalithic site in South America. He also speculates on the existence of a sunken city in Lake Titicaca and reveals new evidence that the Sumerians may have arrived in South America over 4, years ago. He maintains that only power tools could have made the intricate articulation and drill holes found in extremely hard granite and basalt blocks in Bolivia and Peru, and that the megalith builders had to have had advanced methods for moving and stacking gigantic blocks of stone, some weighing over tons. The incredible high-tech world of South America is illuminated in the informative and breezy style that Childress has been known for in his books and his appearances on television shows like Ancient Aliens.

One of the best examples of this regards the great Sphinx of Egypt, dated by most Egyptologists at about years. It took the insight and questioning mind of John Anthony West, veteran student of the history of that great land to invite a geologist to study the weathering patterns of the Sphinx and make an estimate of when and how such degradation took place.
