FINAL 2012 LENTEN GUMBO LUNCH IS FRIDAY, MARCH 30
Gumbo 2012 Winding Down
Dine-in opens at 11:00 a.m. Don't miss out: invite your friends and co-workers to the final Gumbo of the season. Enjoy some fabulous shrimp or chicken-and-sausage gumbo, great company and music.
Phone in your order between 8-10 a.m. and tell us when to have it ready for you to pick up in the Fourth Street drive thru lane.
Don't forget to order some extra for the freezer! Gumbo pints and quarts can be purchased Sunday between services, as they are available. Co-chairs Trudy Ivy and Jennie Price (above left and right, with John Pastorek of WBRZ) thank you all for your support, and send special thanks to the wonderful 2012 Gumbo volunteers.
HONOR OR REMEMBER LOVED ONES
Easter Flower Offerings
Listings for Easter flower offerings should be received right away for inclusion in the service leaflets. If you would like to help decorate the church for Easter, please put your donation and the printed wording of your listing in Sunday's offering plate, or make it online (choose "Flower Fund" and put Easter in the option box), then email us with the wording of your listing. (We're concerned mail may not make it to us in time; give us a call, first, at 225-387-5141 if that's your only option.) The usual donation is $35 per listing.
SPEND THE EVENING IN THE GARDEN
Altar of Repose on Maundy Thursday
The Chapel of the Twelve Apostles will be transformed into a lovely Altar of Repose where, following the Maundy Thursday liturgy, the sacrament will be reserved until procession into the church for the 7:30 a.m. Good Friday liturgy.
The garden-like atmosphere will be open throughout the night. Visitors are usually plentiful early in the evening, but to have the vigil constant through the night, sign-up sheets are around the church campus, or you can email Nancy Jo Poirrier to let her know what time you will help keep watch. It would be a meaningful, grace-filled experience to know that someone sat with the symbols of the Christ every hour of the night.
To contribute to the garden, put your check with "Altar of Repose" in the memo line, along with your memorial or thank offering to be included in the service leaflets, in Sunday's offering plate. You can also use the online giving link: choose "Flower Fund" and put Altar of Repose in the comment box. Then, send the wording of your listing to us by email. The plants purchased will be added to the St. James gardens after Easter.
EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 8 STARTING ABOUT 10:15 A.M.
St. James Easter Egg Hunt

You can still bring plastic eggs filled with (non-chocolate) goodies and trinkets to the plaid box in the Parish Hall parlor. We're collecting through Palm Sunday.
Then, on Easter Sunday, children from zero to 10 are invited to the Easter Egg Hunt between the nine and eleven o'clock services. The hunt will begin about 10:15 a.m. The younger groups (0-3 and 4-6) will hunt on the large playground behind the Day School; the older group (7-10) will hunt on the smaller playground directly behind the church on Convention Street.
PAUL'S LETTER TO THE GALATIANS
SMILE Bible Study
It's a new beginning, and you're invited to join the Senior Men Into Life's Enjoyment Bible study on Wednesday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. as we're beginning the study of Paul's letter to the Galatians, and his first missionary journey. Join us for coffee and sweets in the Parish Hall small parlor for an hour of informative fellowship led by Fr. John Miller.
