SUNDAY, JANUARY 29- 7:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

 

It's a Fifth Sunday, and that means a mid-morning combined service alongside a shared parish and neighborhood meal.

 

We'll get to enjoy a sneak peek at Gumbo 2012 with a chicken-and-sausage gumbo lunch following a combined 10:30 a.m. service. (Volunteers should report to Bishops Hall at 11:20 a.m.

 

The Rite II evening service in the chapel remains unchanged at 5:00 p.m.

 

Grey's Theology, the high-school discussion group, will meet at 2:00 p.m., and EYC will meet at 5:00 p.m. for Eucharist, dinner & games.

St. Joan of Arc Chapter of ECW will meet on Feb. 1 at noon at the home of Barrie Griffin. This is a change of location!

Convention Volunteer Deadlines

 

Convention volunteers who would like, may purchase a Saturday meal ticket for $10. Details are available here. The meal ticket purchase deadline is February 5, and may be purchased through the secure link on our web site, or by sending your check, payable to St. James but with "D.C. Travel Information Requested

 

Kathleen Johnson, a parishioner of St. Augustine's in Metairie, where the Rev. AJ Heine is rector, is planning, along with a friend, to travel the El Camino this fall. Fr. AJ suggested she might get some recommendations for arrival airports and so forth from St. James parishioners who have made their pilgrimage. If you have experience you think might be of value to her, please contact her via email.


LOUISIANA BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

St. James Seniors February Event

 

In observance of Louisiana’s 200th anniversary of statehood, the St. James Senior Adults is sponsoring a series of musical tributes. We will honor our musical heritage from Spain, Africa and France over the next few months.

“Música de España” featuring Alvaro Angulo, cellist, in mini-concert on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at noon in the Parish Hall parlor of St. James Episcopal Church, is free and open to the public.

The optional social hour begins at 11:15 a.m. with a hot lunch, served buffet-style, at 11:30, before the concert. Cost of the meal is $13.00 per person.
