Saturday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. - The Great Vigil is the first service of Easter Day.

The service normally consists of four parts:
1. The Service of Light - begun in darkness, the new Paschal candle is lit and light shared throughout the congregation
2. The Service of Lessons - we hear the story of God's plan for his people
3. Christian Initiation by Baptism - we will welcome two youngsters into the fellowship of Christ
4. The Holy Eucharist with the administration of Easter Communion. Rejoice! You may now use the "A" word!

The service is followed by the Agapé Meal, in the Parish Hall Parlor.

7:30 a.m. Rite I service in the church.

9:00 a.m. The "As You Are" Rite II Eucharist in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

the Flowering of the Cross and Holy Eucharist, Rite II begins at nine o'clock in the church, featuring the St. James Treble Choir, on this feast day.

10:00 a.m. - No classes Easter Sunday. Gather for coffee and fellowship in the Parlor.

The Children's Easter Egg Hunt will be held at approximately 10:15 a.m.: children 0-3 and 4-6 on the playgrounds behind Killgore Hall and the Day School; 7-10 year-olds on the playground behind the church.

11:00 a.m. -Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church with the adult choir.

5:00 p.m. Rite II service in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles.

No iConfirm, EYC or Centering Prayer this Sunday afternoon.

Holy Week continues at St. James:

Good Friday,
April 3

Good Friday Liturgy at 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Stations of the Cross will be walked, in the church, at noon.
Holy Saturday,
April 4

The Great Vigil of Easter - the lighting of the Paschal candle and first celebration of the resurrection - at 6:00 p.m. in the church. (Nursery care available.)

The Agapé Meal is at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall parlor. Bring your favorite dish, sandwiches, or dessert to share. Wine and punch provided.

Easter Sunday,
April 5

The Celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ at 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m. (church and chapel), 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. The nursery is open 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Children are invited to bring floral clips from their yards to flower the cross at the 9:00 a.m. service. The Cherub Choir will make a musical offering, as well!

The Easter Egg Hunt will be held at approximately 10:15 a.m. on the playgrounds. Follow the signs to the appropriate area for your age. (Sorry, children 0-10 only!)

If circumstances prevent your attendance at St. James Holy Week or Easter services, please consider an Episcopal webcast. The National Cathedral will have live webcasts of nearly all their Holy Week services. Read the schedule, here.

Confirm-not-Conform and EYC are not meeting on Easter Sunday - enjoy some time with family and friends - and we'll return Sunday, April 12 at 3:15 and 5:00 p.m.

Graduation CapGraduating Seniors: We'd like to share your news, accomplishments and future plans with the parish. Please send a photo and brief bio by Monday, May 4, to Sylvia Rabalais for inclusion in the June issue of The Messenger. A form (not required) is here.

Graduate Recognition: High school graduating seniors, both parishioners and/or Day School alumni, will be recognized at the nine o'clock service on Sunday, May 3, and at a reception immediately following, in the Parish Hall parlor.
