Geared to young parents, but open to everyone, the group meets in the first floor media room in the Ministries Center at 6:00 p.m.

Inquirers' Class begins next Sunday, December 6
Fr. Mark will begin a new series for Inquirers at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 6. The first session with meet in the CSF Atrium as Fr. Mark leads our Advent Meditation. If you've not already spoken with him about your interest in attending, please let him know, now, so proper class arrangements are made.

The First Sunday of Advent
|Happy New Church Year. We begin Year C of the Revised Common Lectionary with an interesting discourse from Luke, related to the first Sunday of Advent, how? As we prepare for the birth of the Christ, we hear signs of what sounds like "end times." But, the light will break through the darkness, even the darkness of our own time, of our own day. The patience of Advent reminds us God is with us at all times, unto the ends of the earth.
7:30 a.m. - Rite I service in the church.
As You Are service begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles.
Children's Church: Meet in the Choir Room on the second floor of the Parish Hall between 8:50 and 9:00 a.m. for an age-appropriate lesson on the day's reading, an activity, and music with Jody Hanet.
9:00 a.m. - Rite II service in the church with organ and cantors. Read about the Treble Choir, in concert at LSU on December 1, below.
10:00 a.m. - We'll gather in Bishops Hall with coffee, cookies, and Fr. Ralph leading an Opening to Advent class while we prepare our home Advent Wreaths. More here, and here.
11:00 a.m. - Rite II service in the church with organ and choir.
5:00 p.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles.
Centering Prayer this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in the CSF Suite on the third floor of the Ministries Center.
Christian Ed next Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Good Shepherd and True Vine Sunday School meet on the second floor of the Parish Hall, for children 3-5 and 6-9 with age-level lessons about the life of Jesus from prophecies of his birth through the resurrection, the seasons of the church year, the sacraments, Bible parables, and more, through the year. Angel Tree Presents Deadline Nears
Visit and select your angel at the Angel Tree, now in the Parish Hall Parlor. Please be sure to "sign out" your angel on the roster sheet next to the tree.
All gifts must be brought to St. James no later than December 1, as delivery to the Salvation Army and Home Instead is scheduled for next week.

Works from the St. James Artists Guild as well as works from the One Stop Art Class under the instruction of Elizabeth Whitley and Warren Green are all on display. Some are offered for sale; please contact the artist, directly, regarding purchase.

Christmas Dinner Gift Bags
We are currently accepting donations toward the gift bags we will offer our guests at the Christmas Dinner on December 13. A box has been placed in the foyer of the Ministries Center for donations. Items needed include:
- Band-Aids, alcohol swabs and antibiotic ointment in individual packs, Q-tips, etc. for carry-along first aid kits we will assemble
- Small-size bottles of hand sanitizer
- Small-size bottles of hand lotion
- Small-size bottles of shampoo and conditioner
- Toothpaste, toothbrushes and small bottles of mouthwash
- Special bags for ladies: Cosmetic samples and bags you might have received as gift-with-purchase items can be put together for a special treat. Check your cabinets for those items you've not used so they can be enjoyed with appreciation.
If you would rather make a financial contribution, our cost is about $12.00 per bag. Make your contribution online, here; or, put your check in the offering plate or mail clearly marked for "Christmas Gift Bags." Questions or want information on helping prepare the bags? Gift bags will be assembled on Thursday, December 10 starting at 10:30 a.m. and going until about 1:00 p.m.
