St. James the Apostle and St. James, the church

Next Sunday, July 19, at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel, Prior John Pitzer will begin our program with some information on St. James the Greater, one of Jesus’ disciples and our church’s patron saint. This will be followed by reflections from Father Howe, Honey East, Evelyn Gautreau, Warren Green, & Jeannie Frey Rhodes, each of whom have a long history with St. James Church. Come, hear about how St. James has changed over the years, what these members remember of past days, and perhaps an amusing anecdote or two. Then, you'll be prepared for the celebration of the Feast Day of St. James we'll observe on July 26:

Salome and the Head of John the Baptist was mistakenly attributed to Leonardo da Vinci until the mid-19th century. It is now attributed to one of Leonardo's "circle," Bernardino Luini 1480-1532, who learned all he could under the master. The "deeds of power" of Jesus were mistakenly attributed to a risen John the Baptist by Herod, perhaps haunted by his cruel and self-serving complicity in the Baptizer's murder.
