  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

Sunday school has begun summer vacation.

Children's Church is offered during the 10:30 service, and will continue during the summer. Children depart to the chapel for their own sermon and program, with opportunity to stretch and wiggle, and return to church in time for communion with their parents.

Commit to Come this Summer: Back at the Annual Parish Meeting, Fr. Chris challenged the congregation to “Commit to Come.” The idea is that we seek to attend more than we miss, even on those mornings when it is not an easy task. Ultimately, St. James is better when all of our members are together, and we hope you are better when St. James is an active part of your life. This is especially important during the summer, as a lot of people move to the area due to corporate relocations. Therefore, be on the lookout this summer for guests and new members. With that in mind, new neighbors are also a great opportunity to invite someone to church. And so, "Commit to Come,” for St. James, yourself, and to help greet all those who enter our doors.

Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

The Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana has been marching in the New Orleans Gay Pride Parade for several years. Please join LGBTQ Episcopalians along with their straight friends and allies, on Saturday, June 8, as we march through the streets of the French Quarter. It is an opportunity to remind people that the Episcopal Church welcomes everyone! The parade begins at 8:00 a.m. EDOLA participants will meet near the corner of Elysian Fields and Rampart at 6:00 a.m. Wear comfortable shoes!

Bad Girls Book Club selection for June discussion is The Last Year of the War by Susan Meissneron. Bad Girls meets next at La Madeleine's on Jefferson Highway on Monday, June 17, at 6:00 p.m. Let Monica Murphy know you'll be there, by email, or text to 225-335-3572.

The second Children's Council Summer Playdate is Saturday, June 22 with a visit to the Planetarium at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum for stargazing lesson and experience, followed by a picnic on the levee! Email Children's Council to reserve enough spots for you and your youngsters, now!

About the Artists Guild

We are happy to welcome two new staff members:

  • Haley Schroeck: Family Ministry Coordinator - In this role, Haley will lead our various ministries for newborns to high school graduating seniors and everything in between. Growing our family ministry opportunities was the number one goal by the Vestry this year, and this is just the first step. Look for tips to come on how you can help this vital ministry. Haley will begin her ministry with us on June 1.
  • Shannon Gallier: Director of Music - Shannon will serve as the organist and choir director to both the Chancel and Treble Choirs in a full-time capacity. Another of the Vestry’s goals was to expand our music ministry by growing our choirs, increasing our choral offerings, and serving as ambassadors representing St. James to the Baton Rouge community through music. Shannon will begin his ministry with us on July 8.
