May 19: The Fifth Sunday of Easter

Sunday Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

 

Last classes of the semester are this Sunday, May 19, at 9:15 a.m.:

  • Children from PreK-3 age through fifth grade meet on the second floor of the Parish Hall, in sections by age levels.
  • Adults are invited to the conclusion of Power, Scandal & Intrigue: The Story of Saul and David with Fr. Ralph Howe, in Bishops Hall.

Children's Church is offered during the 10:30 service, and will continue during the summer. Children depart to the chapel for their own sermon and program, with opportunity to stretch and wiggle, and return to church in time for communion with their parents.

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is at 8:15 a.m., this morning, in the church. Parishioners and Day School families are invited.

 

Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

 

Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

 

Bad Girls Book Club selection for May is Wonder by R. J. Palacio; and, the June discussion will be on The Last Year of the War by Susan Meissneron. Bad Girls meets next at La Madeleine's on Jefferson Highway on Monday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m. Let Monica Murphy know you'll be there, by email, or text to 225-335-3572.

 

We welcome to St. James: George Scanlan, who comes to us from St. James, Alexandria, Louisiana; and Jeanne F. Howe, who comes to us from another parish in the city.

About the Artists Guild

It's time for St. James artists to register for the St. James Artists Guild Summer Exhibition. The show will open with placement on July 1, and pick-up on July 28/29. Contact Nancy Jo Poirrier to register -- the deadline is June 1.

Kids’ Orchestra Music Camp registration is open for children finishing Kindergarten through fifth grade to join in, Monday-Friday, June 24-28 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

 

Tuition is $300 ($50 deposit), and includes instrument rental, daily breakfast and lunch, daily healthy snack, field trip expenses, T-shirt, and other camp keepsakes!
