March 17: The Second Sunday in Lent

Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

 

This Sunday, March 17, at 9:15 a.m.:

  • Children from PreK-3 age through fifth grade meet on the second floor of the Parish Hall for Christian education classes and fun activity!
  • Episcopal 101, a review of the church from Old Testament through the Prayer Book, is in Bishops Hall. This Sunday's class is on Secondary Theology with Fr. Chris.
  • Daily Dose of Scripture, a study of the Sunday lectionary readings, is led in the Parish Hall small parlor, led, this week, by Casey Duncan.

Children's Church is offered during the 10:30 service. Children depart to the chapel for their own homily and program, with opportunity to stretch and wiggle, and will return to church in time for communion with their family.

 

Youth Confirmation Series continues, this Sunday afternoon at 3:15 p.m., in the Ministries Center.

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is at 8:15 a.m. today, in the church. Day School families and parishioners are invited to attend and experience a special joy in worship with this student-led service.

 

Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

 

Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

The Baton Rouge ECW Spring Deanery Meeting is this Saturday, March 16, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, Denham Springs, with registration at 9:00 a.m., and Holy Eucharist at 9:45 a.m. A presentation will be made by the American Heart Association Go Red for Women director. Bad Girls Book Club will discuss Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver at the Monday, March 18, meeting, at 6:30 p.m. The April book selection is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. BGBC meets at La Madeleine's on Jefferson Hwy.

Friday, March 22 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. is EYC Indoor Rock Climbing at Uptown Climbing, 10505 Coursey Blvd., for sixth through 12th graders, and their friends. Cost: $10, cash or check payable to "St James Episcopal Church."
