April 14: The Sunday of the Passion - Palm Sunday

Sunday's Service Schedule
All services will begin in Bishops Hall for the Procession with Palms.
  • 8:00 a.m - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

 

Sunday morning classes for children and adults are on break until Sunday, April 28. We will have coffee, lemonade, and cookies in the Parish Hall parlor before and after morning services; come, enjoy some visiting time!

Gumbo Online Store

FINAL GUMBO FRIDAY is today! Gumbo call-in lines open at 8:00 a.m. this morning, to place your pick-up orders: 225-387-5141, or order and pay online at www.stjamesgumbo.org.

 

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is at 8:15 a.m. today, in the church. Day School families and parishioners are invited to attend and experience a special joy in worship with this student-led service.

 

Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

 

Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

 

St. Mary’s will meet on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m., at Anna Catherine Soule’s home. Suzette Howe will be leading discussion on Hannah & Anna. Contact Mary Boutwell for more information.

Altar of Repose

You may commit to being present with the Holy Sacrament, in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, between the Maundy Thursday liturgy and the Holy Eucharist on Good Friday at 7:30 a.m. Sign-up is not required, but helps us ensure there is coverage throughout the night. View and sign-up on the digital sheet, here, or sign-up on the paper version in the Parish Hall parlor, this Sunday.

 

Bad Girls Book Club will meet Monday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at La Madeleine's on Jefferson Highway. Our book selection is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Email Mary about Egg Hunt

 

 

Bring your contribution of plastic eggs and/or small trinkets (rubber balls, erasers, etc.) or individually wrapped candies to place in the eggs to the Egg Hunt box in the Parish Hall parlor this Sunday!

Maundy Thursday Overnight Lock-In: Thursday, April 18 - Friday, April 19 at 9:00 a.m. Sixth through twelfth graders are invited to come to the church for the 7:00 p.m. Maundy Thursday service, after which the all-nighter begins. Bring air mattress, sleeping bag & pillow, and a snack to share. Our overnight plans include praying in the Garden of Repose, just as Jesus did. A late-night meal at Louie's Cafe will top us off. Pick-up is by 9:00 a.m., Friday morning. RSVP to Mrs. Annie by Sunday, April 14 with a completed permission slip.
