Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 8:00 a.m. - Fifth Sunday's Hearty Breakfast in Bishops Hall
  • 9:15 a.m. - Christian Education youth and adults with Cherub Choir for younger children
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

Sunday School Invitation

This Sunday, September 30, at 9:15 a.m.:

  • Children from PreK-3 age through fifth grade will meet in the Choir Room with Sara Bray for Cherub Choir practice, then sing at the opening of the 10:30 service!
  • Youngsters in sixth through twelfth grades meet in the Youth Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center (parking lot side of Fourth Street).
  • Adults:
    • Daily Dose of Scripture, an adult study of the Sunday readings, meets this fall in the Parish Hall small parlor.
    • In the Beginning: A Study of Genesis is the first series in our Adult Forum, led by Fr. Chris Duncan. The class meets in Bishops Hall.

Vestry Nominating Committee Accepting Recommendations

The Nominating Committee to select candidates for election to our Vestry, at the January 2019 Annual Meeting, is asking for your help in recruiting and nominating potential candidates. Please feel free to nominate as many parishioners as you believe qualified and interested, including yourself. (One recommendation per form, please.) Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 10, 2018.


Church Calendar Link

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is held Friday mornings school is in session, at 8:15 a.m. in the church. Day School families and parishioners are invited to attend and experience a special joy in worship with this student-led service.


Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.


We'll observe the feast of St. Francis this Monday, October 1 with a special service with Animal Blessing on the Day School playground at 8:15 a.m. You and your leashed or crated live pet, photo, or stuffed animals are welcome. Please enter through the Convention Street gate located between the church and Day School buildings.


Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

Joan of Arc Study Group

The Joan of Arc Study Group kicks off the 2018-2019 meeting year this Wednesday, October 3 at noon with its gathering at the home of Rieta Reiser. Martha Yancey will present the lesson on Paul. Maretta Creveling and Tamara Redhead provide sandwiches, with Rosemary Campbell and Barbara Hughes bringing desserts.

Hearty Breakfast

Sunday is Hearty Breakfast time! Plan to join us in Bishops Hall starting at 8:00 a.m. for a full, hot breakfast, or sign-up to volunteer as a St. James greeter/server to our guests. Read more, here.

This Sunday, September 30: EYC Escape Room - 6:00 'til 7:30 p.m. - St. Luke's and St. James are co-hosting this unique escape room experience at St. James. Other youth groups from across the diocese will join in. Definitely a don't-miss event, and you will want to bring friends. Let Mrs. Annie know to expect you!


2018-2019 Youth Registration: We have a new youth registration/permission system in place. All St. James youth (and friends attending) need to complete the registration form at the link, below. Mrs. Annie thanks you!


The James Gang in NO

The James Gang had a great day trip to New Orleans, with a church crawl to Trinity and Christ Church Cathedral, and lunch with Fr. John Pitzer. Watch for the next James Gang event to come!
