Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 9:15 a.m. - Christian Education for children and adults
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - All Saints' Evensong, in the church

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

It's a busy, busy Sunday, November 11!

  • Children's Sunday School - 9:15 a.m. - from PreK-3 age through fifth grade meet on the second floor of the Parish Hall.
  • Adult classes at 9:15 a.m.:
    • Daily Dose of Scripture, an adult study of the Sunday readings, meets in the Parish Hall small parlor.
    • In the Beginning: A Study of Exodus is the second series in our Adult Forum, with this series led by Fr. Ralph Howe. The class meets on the first floor of Bishops Hall.
    • Power Parenting concludes this Sunday morning, on the third floor of Bishops Hall with Eydie Comeaux at 9:15 a.m., and a round table question and answer session with all four speakers after the 10:30 worship service. A light lunch will be provided for parents and children. Children ages five and up will watch a movie. The nursery hours will be extended until 12:45 for those four and under.

There are NO Sunday morning classes or youth events scheduled during Thanksgiving break: November 18-25.

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is at 8:15 a.m. in the church. Day School families and parishioners are invited to attend and experience a special joy in worship with this student-led service.

 

Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center

 

The Day School is hosting an education professional open house this Tuesday, November 13 to showcase our successful technology integration program. Read more, here. Did you know St. James Episcopal Day School is an Apple Distinguished School?!

 

Holy Eucharist with healing prayers is celebrated each Wednesday at noon. This simple service lasts about 35 minutes, and is held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, just inside the Parish Hall door on N. Fourth Street.

 

EfM Grads Group gathers at noon, Thursday, November 15, hosted by Jane Perkins. Contact Nancy Jo Poirrier for more information.

 

St. Mary’s Bible Study will gather this Thursday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Caroline Ross, 2966 Torrance Drive.

 

Bad Girls Book Club is not meeting in November. Our December selection is The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes, and the meeting is early: Monday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m. For January 21, 2019, we'll be reading The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. DAY SCHOOL ANNUAL BOOK FAIR
 

The annual Scholastic Book Fair is great way to support the Day School library while helping your child, or those you know, discover the power of reading.

 

We invite everyone to come shop Scholastic’s wonderful collection of books and toys for all ages in the Day School library this Sunday, November 11 from 10:00 a.m. 'til 12:30 p.m.

 

The Book Fair will also be open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. 'til 3:00 p.m. (closing early on Friday). It’s never too early to start your holiday shopping!

Registration deadline for Jr. High Rally on Saturday-Sunday, November 17-18 is this weekend. Jr. High Rally, for grades six through eight, is at the beautiful Solomon Episcopal Conference Center in Robert, Louisiana. Registration is available online at seccla.org. Mrs. Annie will be attending as an adult chaperone.

 

Save the Date: Saturday, December 1: After our Thanksgiving break (no events November 18-25), let's get together for a lock-in! Details coming soon, but save the date, for now!
