Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - All Saints' Evensong, in the church

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.


Sunday morning Christian Education classes for children and adults are on Thanksgiving break this Sunday, November 18, and next Sunday.


Children's Chapel goes on, as scheduled, during the 10:30 service.

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is at 8:15 a.m. in the church. Day School families and parishioners are invited to attend and experience a special joy in worship with this student-led service. No services next week while the Day School is on Thanksgiving break.


Open meetings of AA are held each weekday at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center


The Day School will be closed all of Thanksgiving week. The church office will close at noon on Wednesday (no noon Eucharist, this Wednesday), and remain closed Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23.


Advent begins December 2, and we'll mark the day with intergenerational Advent Wreath Making in Bishops Hall at 9:15 a.m., in lieu of Sunday morning Christian education classes.


Bad Girls Book Club is not meeting in November. Our December selection is The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes, and the meeting is early: Monday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m. For January 21, 2019, we'll be reading The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. We meet at LaMadeleine's on Jefferson at Old Hammond Hwy. RSVP by email to Monica Murphy, or text her at 225-335-3572.

Staff Announcement: Co-Interim Choir Director


Eric Johnson's ministry at St. James as a Co-Interim Director of the adult Chancel Choir and Director of the youth Treble Choir concluded last week. Eric has served for many years at St. James and we thank him for those years of service and leadership. A thank you also goes out to the adult Chancel Choir and youth Treble Choir as they continue to lead St. James in making a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Meg and Addison Willett on the safe arrival of their twin daughters, Elizabeth Hawkins Willett and Caroline Brooks Willett, on November 1. Proud grandmother is Harriett Pooler.

Jr. High Rally is this weekend, for young people in grades six through eight, at the beautiful Solomon Episcopal Conference Center in Robert, Louisiana. Mrs. Annie will be attending as an adult chaperone. Please remember these young people (and their adult leaders) in your prayers.


Look for our December event list - coming soon. We were advised of several school/social event conflicts with a December lock-in, and will reschedule in 2019.
