Stewardship Ministry of the Week

St. Martha's Guild provides a stewardship of hospitality in offering service to St. James parishioners and their families who wish to have a visitation in the Parish Hall before the funeral of a loved one. The guild contacts the family to offer any assistance to make an often difficult time easier. We provide and serve coffee and soft drinks to guests during the visitation and are there to assist the family in any way we can. Our goal is to provide a warm and caring atmosphere for our church family during their time of bereavement. Volunteers serve three or four times a year.

You're invited to join St. Martha's Guild. Please visit with Emily Wray Lamont over coffee in the Parish Hall parlor after the 10:30 service this Sunday, or contact her by email about this ministry.

Go in peace, to love and serve the Lord.

EYC News

Camp Able is a three-day camp session at Camp Hardtner specifically designed for children (age 9 and above) and adults with special needs. However, it is not about disabilities, but abilities! Camp Able is a setting in which we are reminded that our neighbors don't always look, sound, or think the same way we do. Our goal is to establish a community of unconditional love, compassion, and acceptance for all.

Campers participate in canoeing, fishing, swimming, music, a talent show, dance, arts and crafts, manicures and pedicures, bingo, a slip-n-slide, and games. Together, campers and staff form new friendships and make lasting memories. Each camper, faced with his or her own set of circumstances, works through personal challenges to take part in a camp that allows everyone to have fun, learn new things, and most importantly, experience the abundant love of God.

Camp Able can't happen without volunteers like you! Therefore, you play a very important role in the implementation of this camp session. If you are 16 or older and want to help others experience the place that helped to shape you, then click here to learn more and sign up.

Camp Able is located at Camp Hardtner in Pollock, Louisiana. Staff Training is from July 17-19, 2018 and our session is from July 19-23, 2018.
