As part of our tithe to the community at large, St. James funds over $60,000 in small grants to area and diocesan charities. Funding is focused on the areas of greatest need—food, medical services, shelter, and education—for the people of greatest need, delivered by the most effective means. Last year, we helped cancer patients, the homeless, low-income school children and more.

Please encourage the charities you know and love to apply. They can find the application on our website.

2018 Summer Sounds program info

In a revamp year for the Summer Sounds at St. James program, Chris LeBlanc will be performing in Bishops Hall at St. James on Wednesday evening, July 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Chris LeBlanc has been a mainstay on the Louisiana music scene for over 20 years, playing local and regional shows, throughout the U.S., and Europe. He has been billed with such artist as  ZZ Top, Hank Williams Jr, Buddy Guy, Dr John, BB King, Vince Gill, and Brett Michaels. He is described as “a musician’s musician and a performer’s performer.” LeBlanc has released four CDs since 1995 on his own label, Sweetroll Records, as well as recording with other legendary artists, including Bobby Charles, Dr. John, Sonny Landreth, Bobby Charles, and others.

Chris’ music resonates a rich bluesy sound of the south and pays homage to some of his greatest influences, including The Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, and every juke joint in between. His show includes original pieces as well as covers ranging from The Beatles and Creedance Clearwater Revival to Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters.

General admission is $10; college students with a valid ID will be admitted free. A reception follows so the audience may have an opportunity to meet the performers, obtain memorabilia and recordings, and enjoy the St. James Artists Guild Summer Exhibition and Sale.

Tickets are now on sale online, or may be purchased at the door on July 25.

Details continue to be fine-tuned in the new Bride's Room (originally the rector's office in the Parish Hall building), but you are invited to go by and take an appreciative look at the beautiful wedding photo display put together by Susan Rolfs and Chet Coles, with the help of Fred Frey. A glimpse is above; click on the image for a larger view, and be sure to go by to appreciate the time and talents volunteered by these parishioners -- and the families who so generously shared their photos with us.
