This Sunday at St. James

December 9: The Second Sunday of Advent

Mary and Elizabeth with Jesus and Baptist children, oil, 1825, Neue Pinakothek , Munich, is full of icons and imagery used by many artists of John. An interesting series on John's depiction in art is hosted by the National Gallery, United Kingdom.

Sunday's Service Schedule

  • 9:15 a.m. - Christian Education for children and adults
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the church
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

Nursery Hours: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sunday mornings from 8:45 a.m. 'til noon, for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

St. Nicholas Day

We'll be recognizing the feast day of St. Nicholas (December 6) at this Sunday's 10:30 service. Children are invited to take off their shoes and leave them under the sign in the Parish Hall foyer before going into the church. Instead of Children's Chapel, there will be special sermon by Fr. Chris about St. Nicholas and how his actions embodied the spirit of Christmas, and we hope St. Nicholas might appear and fill those shoes with treats and goodies!
