St. James Outreach

It's Outreach Application Time

As part of our tithe to the community at large, St. James funds over $60,000 in small grants to area and diocesan charities. Funding is focused on the areas of greatest need—food, medical services, shelter, and education—for the people of greatest need, delivered by the most effective means. Last year, we helped cancer patients, the homeless, low-income school children and more.

Please encourage the charities you know and love to apply. They can find the application on our website.

Junior/Senior High Youth Rally is April 21 & 22

Rally is designed to be a fun, relaxing retreat weekend that combines presentations by youth, small group discussion, and worship with games, activities, music, and fellowship. Rally is designed to be welcoming to everyone who attends and the goal of the weekend is to make sure that everyone is included fully in the community.

Who can attend Rally?

Youth Rally is open to all youth in grades 6-12 from the Diocese of Louisiana, and friends of any religious background. While the topics presented and discussed will have a Christian focus we welcome all young people who have a willingness to participate fully in the weekend regardless of their religious affiliation. You need not be Episcopalian to attend, however you must be committed to engage in theological reflection from a Christian perspective.

Flood Relief

I have balanced the reports of flood relief efforts provided by St. James in response to the 2016 flood.

We collected $44,390 in contributions and disbursed $60,000 in financial assistance. This, of course, is in addition to the many volunteer hours put in toward furniture salvage, gutting houses, doing laundry, coordinating and/or delivering supplies, our sandwich-making lines, distributing ice and water, etc. The Brené Brown benefit provided an additional $50,000 to the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund for assistance to people beyond St. James’ family who were in extreme need.

I am grateful for the generosity of the people of St. James.

Thank you,

The Very Rev. Joe D. Reynolds

Download a Crawfish Boil invitation, here, and invite your neighbors, friends, co-workers who might not have a church home. This is a relaxed evening of enjoyment to introduce them to your St. James family!
