September 3: The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Mattress Mack

Whatever may be the personal spirituality of "Mattress Mack," in opening his Houston furniture stores to Hurricane Harvey victims, he was willing to take on the risk and hard work to help his fellow Houstonians. Click the image for the NPR story.

Holy Eucharist with the Day School is celebrated this morning at 8:15 a.m., in the church. All are welcome to attend this joyful service with music and readings led by our Day School students.

Open meetings of AA are held daily at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

Wednesday, September 6 at 6:00 p.m., the St. James EYC group meets in the Youth Room at St. James.

Parish Update Meeting will be at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, in Bishops Hall. A forum of information by the Search Committee will follow the 10:30 service. Additional Search Committee forums are on Tuesday, September 12 at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, September 17, immediately following the 8:00 a.m. service, all in Bishops Hall.

Meditative Yoga meets next on Monday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. These free classes are held on the first and second Mondays of each month, 11:00-12:30; and, on the third and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30-11:00 a.m., in the CSF Atrium on the third floor of the Ministries Center. The gentle poses used are accessible to most and everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesdays at noon: A service of Holy Eucharist with opportunity for healing prayers is held each week in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles. This quiet, mid-week service lasts about thirty minutes.

We will be hosting the 180th Diocesan Convention at St. James on Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4, 2017. Many volunteers will be needed to help with registration, greeting and offering welcome to visitors, campus directions, and more. Denise Allen is leading our planning committee and will be asking for volunteers at the Ministries Fair, next Sunday. If you already know you'd like to be involved, email Denise, letting her know which or both days you're available (or maybe behind the scenes), and what area you're interested in.
