Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite I, in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in church with organ
  • As You Are - Rite II service at 10:30 in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II, in the Chapel of The Twelve Apostles
Sunday Education and Events
  • Nursery: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open Sundays between 8:45 a.m. and noon for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship, fellowship, or education time. The nursery is located right off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.

Sunday classes at 9:15 a.m.:

Sunday morning Christian education programs for children ages three through 12 meet on the second floor of the Parish Hall at 9:15 a.m.

  • Children's Church is for youngsters who would like to spend time during 10:30 services in age-appropriate lessons and activity before returning to their families in time for communion. Gather at the back of the church during the sequence hymn (just before the Gospel reading).

  • Spring 2017 volunteers for children's Sunday School and/or Children's Church are needed! The spring semester sign-up sheet is ready for you to volunteer: click here!


Young people in grades six through twelve gather in the Youth Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center at 9:15 a.m.


Adult classes at 9:15 Sunday mornings:

  • The Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Joe Reynolds, his new series, continues at 9:15 a.m. this Sunday, in the CSF Atrium on the third floor of the Ministries Center. Videos of his presentations are available on our website, here.

  • The location for "A Dose of Daily Scripture: Reflection and Discussion of the Sunday Readings," is now in the reception area of the diocesan offices on the third floor of the Ministries Center. The Revs. Ralph F. Howe, Jr., and John M. Pitzer, as well as lay leaders, including Annie Knazs Jung and Ed Henderson, read and discuss the Sunday readings from the lectionary.

Daily Dose of Scripture


Centering Prayer is held at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Presence on the third floor of the Ministries Center.

A modified service of Morning Prayer is held each Monday school is in session at 8:15 a.m., in the church. All are welcome.


Open meetings of AA are held daily at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.


Bad Girls Book Club is back! Our January selection is Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger. We meet at 6:00 p.m. at LaMadeleine's on Jefferson at Old Hammond Hwy. R.s.v.p. to Monica Murphy.


CHANGE IN SCHEDULE: Meditative Yoga will be held on first and second Mondays this spring, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the CSF Atrium on the third floor of the Ministries Center, led by Carmen Board. Additionally, Margaret Culbertson will lead sessions on the third and fourth Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. except in January: no session next Wednesday, but will be postponed until Monday, January 29 at 9:30. The relaxed styles used by Margaret and Carmen are accessible to almost anyone, and everyone is invited to attend.


A service of Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayers is held each Wednesday at noon in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles. Take a few minutes mid-week to give yourself time for prayer and communion.


EYC meets Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Youth Room, first floor of the Ministries Center.


A service of Holy Eucharist led by the Day School students is held each Friday school is in session at 8:15 a.m. Come, enjoy this joyful community celebration!

Hannah's Highlights
  • Sunday morning classes at 9:15 a.m. for sixth through twelfth graders -- the EYC age group -- in the Youth Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

  • FLAMINGO FLOCKING IS BACK! St. James youth will be in the parlor after the mid-morning church services all during Epiphany to arrange a flocking for you! $25 sends a flock of flamingoes to friend or foe; $50 keeps the St. James flocks out of your yard. All proceeds go toward summer mission trip expenses (Cathedral Urban Service Experience at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston!) You can pay online here, or download your flocking order form, here, and turn it in Sunday at the EYC table in the parlor.

  • TOMORROW! TOMORROW! Saturday, January 21 - 6:00-9:00 p.m. - Ice Skating & Beignets! We'll meet at St. James at 6:00 p.m., have some Jimmy Johns (courtesy of church/Hannah) to eat while people arrive and before ice skating, then travel to Leo's Iceland for ice skating from 6:30-8:00 p.m., and after a stop at Coffee Call for beignets be back to St. James at 9:00 p.m. Third through fifth graders are invited to join us for this event! $15/child covers beignets ($5) and skating ($10). Please download, complete and bring this Permission Form with you!

  • MISSION TRIP PLANS - St. James will join St. Luke's on their 10th anniversary trip to CUSE (Cathedral Urban Service Experience) at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston in two trips: (1) May 31-June 3 for those currently in grades 6-8; and (2) July 23-28 for those currently in grades nine-12. Look for the mandatory informational meeting invitation in your email inbox, soon. You can sign up for her list at the button below!

  • CONFIRMATION PREPARATION begins Sunday, February 5 at 9:15 a.m.! If you, or your youth age 13 and up, is interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at the June 4 visitation by the bishop, please register with Hannah. Download the Confirmation Class Info and Agreement form, here, and forward to Hannah Rothermel ASAP. Classes will be held two Sunday mornings/month (February 5 & 19, March 5 & 19, April 2 & 23, May 7 & 21) at 9:15 a.m. in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center to cover the foundations of our faith from the Catechism from the Book of Common Prayer.
