Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 9:00 a.m. - ADVENT 4 - Holy Eucharist, Rite II, in the church
  • 2:30 p.m. - Pageant participants should arrive and check in at Parish Hall parlor
  • 3:30 p.m. - The Children's Pageant Tableau and Holy Eucharist, Rite II
  • 7:00 p.m. - The Christ Mass, with choir
  • 11:00 p.m. - The Christ Mass, with choir
  • Christmas Day at 10:30 a.m. - spoken, Rite II, service of The Christ Mass, in the church.
Search Committee Now Accepting Nominations

The Search Committee is working on the Parish Profile to be provided potential rector candidates with a completion goal in January 2018, and is now accepting parishioner nominations for candidates to be considered for the position of rector of St. James Episcopal Church. Sunday Education & Events

Nursery: Our professionally-staffed nursery is open this Sundays between 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for infants of six-weeks to children four years old as parents desire and are in worship and fellowship. The nursery is located directly off the Parish Hall foyer. Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.


CHILDREN's classes are on holiday break until Sunday, January 21.

  • Christmas Eve pageant participant arrival time this Sunday, December 24 is 2:30 p.m. The nursery will be open Christmas Eve for the 3:30 service, only.

Church Calendar Link

The church offices are closed until Wednesday, December 27 in observance of the Christmas holiday.


The Day School is on holiday until Monday, January 8, when we will have a modified service of Morning Prayer at 8:15 a.m. This service is held all Monday mornings school is in session and all are welcome.


Open meetings of AA are held weekdays at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.


Wednesdays at noon: A service of Holy Eucharist with opportunity for healing prayers is held each week in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles. This quiet, mid-week service lasts about thirty minutes.


Donations intended for 2017 tax purposes must be received at the office before noon on Friday, December 29, put in the Sunday, December 31 collection plate, or completed online at before midnight on December 31.


A New Year's Eve - Fifth Sunday - Hearty Breakfast! Mark your calendar, now, to come enjoy a hot breakfast with fellow parishioners, and our neighbors living on the streets or in area shelters, on Sunday, December 31, 8:00-9:00 a.m. Want to help out? Visit the sign-up sheet, here.


Yoga changes in 2018: Monday yoga is no longer offered, but Margaret Culbertson is adding a third Wednesday to her schedule - teaching on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays in January at 9:30 a.m.  Anyone who wishes to attend should RSVP to by noon on Tuesday before each class so attendance/potential conflicts can be determined.


Wednesday, January 3 is the next Joan of Arc Study Group meeting, hosted at noon by Rieta Reiser. Barbara Bacot will lead the study on the Apostle James. All women of the church are invited; contact Nina Broyles for more information.


The Bad Girls Book Club January meeting will be on Monday, January 15 and the selection is The Bone Lady by Mary Manhein, world renowned forensic anthropologist, and we are very excited to announce that Ms. Manhein will be joining us for the evening to discuss her book! We meet at La Madeleine's on Jefferson at Old Hammond Hwy. Let Monica Murphy know you'll be attending via email, or text to 225-335-3572.

Hannah's Highlights

Student help is needed during the holidays filling We Care lunch bags - a simple procedure is posted in the We Care closet (first door to right on entry to the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center). Good holiday hours are 11:30-12:30 just about any weekday! (Not good days: Wednesday, December 20; Friday, December 22; or Monday-Tuesday, December 25-26.) Please email to sign up to help over the holidays!


January 7: Confirmation Information meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center. Youth interested in May 2018 confirmation at the bishop's visit, along with their parents/adults, should plan to attend for class schedule, requirements, and additional information.
