Sunday's Service Schedule
  • 7:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite I in the church
  • 10:30 a.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in church with organ, cantors, and AYA musicians.
  • 5:00 p.m. - Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles

We will be observing this schedule through July. Following arrival of our interim rector, the long-term schedule may be reassessed.

Sunday Education and Events
  • Sunday Nursery: Infants six-weeks to children four years old are lovingly cared for in our professionally-staffed nursery, should you desire it. During redesign of the usual nursery area, please follow the signs to our summer nursery in Werlein Hall (Day School building). Your infants and young children are always welcome in church.
  • 11:30 a.m. - Coffee Time and fellowship in the Parish Hall parlor
  • 6:00 p.m. - Centering Prayer is held in the CSF Suite on the third floor of the Ministries Center. All interested are invited to join this time of stillness in God's presence.

Summer Sounds & Art Show

Summer Sounds at St. James 2016 performance line up is here. TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!


The professional work of the St. James Artists Guild will be on exhibit during July in the Parish Hall parlor. In addition, the art work of students from The One Stop Homeless Center in Baton Rouge will be on exhibit in the small parlor of the Parish Hall small parlor. Parishioner Elizabeth Whitley, professional artist and teacher, is their instructor. She is assisted by parishioner Warren Green.


On weekdays in July, the work will be on exhibit during the church office business hours; on Sundays before and after services; and, each Wednesday evening during the Summer Sounds at St. James concerts and receptions.

Today's Playdate, from 10:30 a.m. 'til 12:30 p.m., is at the BREC Splashpad, Highland Road near Amiss. We'll provide drinks, snacks and a surprise. Please bring a sack lunch for a picnic. Park info is found here. Day School families are especially invited to join us!


Next scheduled dates are Fridays, July 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Welcome Ministry Materials
Casserole Date Coming Soon!

The ECW of St. James is scheduling a date in the next few weeks for casserole preparation. We'll fill the St. James freezer with meals to take to parish families after a child’s birth, after a death, or in other times of need. 


We will have a coffee bar and breakfast snacks to keep us going!

Pastoral Care Team
A Lay Pastoral Care Ministry team, with far-reaching possibilities, is being formed as part of our Strategic Plan: Good News 2020. Volunteers are needed all along the way - from planning to implementation to hands-on.
Fall Group Forming
Members of an Education for Ministry group meet each week to discuss reading materials that provide a basic education in the history of Christianity and contemporary theological issues.
Volunteers Needed

We begin filling bags at 7:30 a.m. on distribution days and we're finished by 9:00 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to help set up the bagging assembly line between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays before distribution days.

Church Calendar Link

COMBINED MID-MORNING SERVICES IN JUNE: We will worship in combined 10:30 services (in lieu of 9:00, As You Are, and 11:00) throughout June and July. It'll be wonderful time to reconnect with parishioners from among and across the morning services!


Meditative Yoga returns Monday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the CSF Atrium on the third floor of the Ministries Center.


Open meetings of AA are held daily at noon in the Activities Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.


The Bad Girls Book Club meets on Monday, July 18 at 6:00 p.m. at La Madeleine's on Jefferson Highway at Old Hammond Highway to discuss A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.


To Julia and Carlos Spaht on the arrival of their daughter, Virginia Davis Spaht, on Sunday, June 12. She was welcomed home by big sister, Cappa, too.

St. James Treble Choir Link

The St. James Treble Choir presents a wonderful opportunity to study, learn, and sing for youngsters who love to sing and interested in improving their skills. If you know of such a youngster in grades 4-10, please share the audition information with them; the choir is open to all young singers in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Contact Eric Johnson, Treble Choir Director, for more information.

The St. James EYC, along with a crew from St. Alban's Episcopal Chapel at LSU have been at Hearts of Palm Mission, a program of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Visit our Facebook page to view the exciting reports Marvin has been turning in. Please keep these young people, their leaders, and chaperones in your prayers as they begin their journey home.
