Welcome Ministry Workshop
Welcome Ministry Workshop

Mary Parmer developed the Diocese of Texas' newcomer ministry project to help congregations Invite, Welcome and Connect visitors and new members. She has taken the work to 30 dioceses throughout The Episcopal Church, and has taught the method to teams of college missioners and at two Episcopal seminaries. Read more, here.

Mary will be at St. James on Saturday, February 27 for an Invite-Welcome-Connect workshop scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and you are invited!

As a primary need expressed in our Strategic Planning survey, ministry leaders, ushers, Vestry and Associate Vestry members are especially encouraged to attend.

Wednesdays in Lent
"A wonderful evening of fellowship and learning!"

Our special Lenten series continues this Wednesday evening with Holy Eucharist at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner, then class options for adults, as well as programs for children and youth, all ending by 7:15 p.m.

We had good attendance last week, and want to prepare well for this week, so ask that you register for each Wednesday you plan to attend (or all at once), at the link, below, where you can also read more about each week's offerings.

NEW THIS WEEK: In our Health series, this week our church comptroller, Debbie Stiltner, will lead a class in negotiating the varied and changing food recommendations presented to us, almost daily. The information can be confusing, contradicting, and overwhelming. The Food Pyramid was replaced with My Plate, which recommends half our plate be filled with fruits and vegetables at every meal. In supermarkets today, sugar can be a hidden ingredient in many "healthy" foods labeled "made with whole grains" or "low fat." Navigating all of these recommendations can be a challenge. This class hopes to give you a few tools to help you on your journey to better health, including tips on how small changes can begin a journey to live a healthier life.
